A woman that works with me at Bloomers has years of experience growing many, many kinds of herbs. She has inspired me to try several this season. She tells me that since I like to make spaghetti she’ll start me with Oregano, Basil, Marjoram and Rosemary. I have been told that I will have several options at harvest time. First I can hang them upside down to dry and then grind them for storage in shaker jars. Or while they are still fresh, I could remove their leaves and put 1-teaspoon worth into individual ice cube slots, fill the tray with water and freeze them. She suggested using labeled freezer bags for storing the finished cubes. This option would give me “fresh” herbs all winter!
Check out our website
to see all the vegetables and herbs we are growing at Bloomers this
year. If we are missing any of your favorites, please let me know so we
can research them and possibly add them to our selection next year.
Happy gardening!
