What is your favorite shrub? Hmmm, what will it be used for? If it’s for screening or privacy and you have lots of space, I like the Viburnum family. The Nannyberry will get really tall (up to 15 feet tall and 10 feet wide!) They have showy blue fruit and dependable fall color. Beware though, these will send out suckers. The Snowball is also really nice, with a mature height of up to 12 feet and those fun “snowball” flowers in early summer! But if you’re talking about a plant for the borders around your yard or up next to your house, then I would start with several from the many varieties of spirea. They mature to a wide range of heights and provide lots of flower as well as foliage colors to your landscape. We all have our own favorites, what are some of yours? Search on our website www.bloomersmn.com using the “plant finder” to find out more about these great plants and to maybe discover some new!
